Once you are an adult and if you live in NYC, Spring Break translates into: Midwinter Tropical Vacation That Keeps You Sane. Every year I try to plan at least one warm weather vacation between January and April, and this year I decided to go on a Sailing Collective trip to the French Caribbean.
The Sailing Collective is a company founded by Captain Dayyan Armstrong, he runs it with his brother, co-founding Captain Ross Beane and a few other Captains based out of NYC. What SC does is charter sailboats in exotic places to sail a small group of guests around in foreign waters. Usually, a trip has about 6-8 guests, and the boat we were on was a 50 foot Catamaran. It basically gives you a taste and view of another country like you've never seen before- from the sea! SC also provides an array of great meals and a small amount of guided sightseeing.
Our trip started in Martinique and we sailed to the island of Dominica and back. Both places are tropical paradises, being able to see them from the water was truly an amazing experience. Imagine tooling around a tropical island, seeing a pretty cove, anchoring and then jumping off the deck to go snorkeling. It's a blast man. Boat life can be cramped, and yet it provides for you an indescribable feeling of freedom that, frankly, I feel addicted to. I can't wait to get back on one! If you want to plan a stellar and unique vacation, consider the Sailing Collective. They go to Thailand, Croatia, Sardinia, Madagascar and more. The world really is yours in a way you never imagined!!! xoxox
